Lab Manager

Fides Arguelles (they/them)

Fides received a B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from the University of British Columbia and currently holds the positions of DAS lab manager and study coordinator. Previously, they completed their senior honours thesis at the lab to empirically assess how minority stress may influence rumination and depressive outcomes. Fides previously worked as a study coordinator and honours student at the Social Cognition and Emotion Lab, directed studies student at the Bedi RTS Counselling/Psychotherapy Lab, and research assistant at various labs. In their current and future research endeavours, they hope to ​​examine the mechanisms contributing to the increased risk, prevalence, and severity of mood disorders among minority and minoritized individuals. Fides hopes to integrate an intersectional, social-justice informed approach in their future research, clinical, and teaching pursuits.
